I have been putting in a fence and have come across some worms which I wish to use for fishing on Thursday. What is the best way to keep them, so they don't die.

Thanks

Assuming that they are lob worms, they will keep for weeks in a bucket with some shredded wet newspaper.

I find that all worms keep equally well in damp newspaper (and it gives them something to read while they're waiting), but they'll certainly starve to death (and smell awful) if they're kept in the stuff for more than a few days.

I keep mine in an old fishtank with compost in the airing cupboard, nice and warm for them. Although one managed to make its way to the bathroom somehow?! Will be making an online order for some soonish actually, buying in bulk haha.

I've never used them but was going to get some for the start of the season. Got to be worth a look though.

100 for £15.50 doesn't sound bad to me, saves alot of hassle digging for them.

I've had some worms, Lobs and Dendrabaena (kept separately)for over a year.

They sit in the garage in large Ice cream tubs with small holes in the top (too big and they get out). Every now and then I add a little more compost when the earth they're in gets too wet (stuff from the bottom of the compost bin), or a very small bit of water if they start to dry.

They're fed on mashed (cooked) potato. Just crumble it on top and then add some more when that's gone.

Last Autumn, when I got low, I added another small tub from the tackle shop but the dendrabaenas have been breeding so I have a ready supply of different sizes.

I don't use them that often in my fishing but always take a small pot with me just in case!
