Sorry Elton for some reason my posting notification thing doesnt work since Ive swapped to broad band so just seen this.

Im always interested in good condition pre 1980 Ambassadeurs mate. Both for collecting and using.I still feel that the build quality of these earlier models is far superior to the modern ones.

From a collecting point of veiw its often hard to get good condition 6500,7000,8500,9000 and 10000 size reels from the British market.Mainly as these were most popular here with sea anglers and the salt takes its toll! especially on the 65's.

From a using point of veiw though I still reckon the origonal 7000's are still the best up tide reel going. And the origonal 6500C (or if your really lucky a factory made CT) still the ultimate long range casting reel.

Hi ive still got the factory 6500 ct in light blue sides got it early 70's.also 1000 non level wind 2speed never used that much.also got a daiwa 7000 fixedspool very early 70's very well made.
must agree those early abu's are well made!
the other reel i like getting rarer now is the shimano speedmaster 11cfs just a great reel fit's nice to hand and cast's well oringinal high speed retrieve 6.1.

I didnt rate the Speedmaster as a "great" out and out casting reel but it was/still is a terrific long range fishing reel.Built for the job.
