Hiya, I just had a mail from a guy, who had a mail supposedly sent to him, from me, I didnt send it. When I click on any mails, they are empty except for the address at the top of the page, no text or anything. I did get a message from Adaware, while doing a scan earlier tonight, about a TVVirtualStringTree!!!!

Any idea what I need to do ?, I did a Google on it, and didnt get much info, execept that its something that stops AdAware performing its duty.

Does it look like my PC has a virus?? and if so, how did it get past Avast!!!

BTW, just to be safe, I deleted all the addresses in my book....

Any info, would be great.

Cheers.

Don't panic too much - it's possible that somebody else's address book was compromised, but with your address in it. It happens quite a lot sad.gif

Still best to run all the security checks, though smile.gif

I dont either...I use Yahoo mail, and have done with no problems for 8 years, along with Mozilla, so, thought I would be fine..

Thanks Elton, going to do a full scan now..smile.gif

Hiya, Full scan just completed, and no threats found..smile.gif

Hiya, Well, after reading about the problems with address books about 8 years ago, when I got my first PC, virus's etc etc, I didnt use one, not till I got this new PC a couple of months ago anyway....so, now, after this carry on, I still dont use them.smile.gifsmile.gif

if you use OE or outlook or any address book like i do then the answer is simple just add a . to the start of the email addresses
which can be deleted prior to sending an email , this way if you get a virus which sends its self via your email address then it will be bounced back to you,
this way you get a warning of some thing being not quite right with you pc.

it don't matter what name is on the Tackle
its the way you use it that catches the fish
