I have caught carp while pike fishing with sprat, in addition when eel fishing with gudgeon have had several carp and perch.

But this week I have caught a tench while pike fishing. Anyone else ever caught one? I would have thought it was pretty unusual.

It took the bait cleanly, top trebles and all.

According to Izaak Wolton, the Tench is the
physician of fishes, for the Pike especially, and that the Pike, being either sick or hurt, is cured by the touch of the Tench.

maybe the tench was trying to heal the dead sprat haha?

tench on a sprat, blimey, what next!

gudgeon on 1/2 a mackeral!

it intended to eat it then, not a foul hook up or anything.

the only other explanation apart from the fish being very hungry would be the sprat sat in the middle of a pile of 'normal' food, tho i bet this is highly unlikely.

ive had pike on casters, but that aint nearly as weird!

My friend Greg caught a 15lb carp on a bit of Mackerel.

Whilst seas fishing with a black smelly plastic worm for bass on a match rod I caught a 25lb Conger Eel!

I have also caught a Perch on a Tutti Fruti pop-up, but I think it was an innocent passer by as it had been hooked above the eye!

I have caught a small pike before on fruit flavoured boilie, plus I have had a 12lb+ mirror on sprat, but the tench remains the most unusual catch.

While rock fishing with Crab bait off Portugal I hooked and landed a Cuttlefish. Guess not that suprising as they eat Crabs. The Cuttlefish ended up as bait!
While Carping took a 12lb Pike on bread flake a couple of years ago,... and had Jack's snap at the float while reeling in.
