Hi, I hope someone can give me the advice I need.
I am just getting into coarse fishing(12 months) and am kicking myself at all the wasted years thinking fish was boring(what a muppet)....anyway.. I am going to Turkey in a couple of weeks and would like to do some sea fishing when there(that'll please my mrs.....) I need advice on tackle, lures etc....I would think the majority of fishing will be from rocks avoiding the beaches.... So advice on lines, lures, weights and what I may catch would be brilliant. I tried searching google but when you enter the word turkey, it comes up with American hunting sites  |

Fished at Marmaris in 99 and lucky me managed to experience an earthquake 5.2 on the richter scale Anyway thats bye the bye. I fished around the harbour and beaches and caught small mullet and bream. Never caught any big fish but I am sure they will be there.
I would take a telescopic spinning rod which will go into your case (they are not expensive) and a fixed spool loaded with 4/5 lb line. Try simple float tactics around the harbours using bread first. Try a recce armed with a catapult and some rolls and try differing distances, the bigger fish may be further out. If the fish are further out it may be worthwhile trying a controller float and artificial bread so it stays on the hook. Also try shrimp and squid which you will get at the local fish market. Also worth trying spinning/plugging either early in the morning or at dusk in case any bigger predators are lurking about. See how the locals do it but from my experience they only target the tiddlers and everything is kept Tight lines and have a good holiday. Looking forward to your report when you get back -------------------- ![]() You design it and I'll tie it for you For more lure information see http://www.alba-rods.co.uk/page2.htm Fishing digs on the Mull of Galloway - recommend http://www.clashwhannon.co.uk Its nice to be nice I never drink water, fish make love in it! |

Thanks for the advice, my wallets gonna take a bashin before I go (dont tell the mrs...)
We always go either Greece or Turkey but I never had the desire to fish til about a year ago, when I got the bug...and got geared up and started at my local day ticket water..Risby Park, East Yorkshire. My only problem with coarse fishing is everything is so bloody small and my old eyes and fat fingers , struggle a bit ,so the sea may be the route for me (i can see the hooks and line without my spex Was watching a young lad when we went on a 'lazy day'(boozy day more like) boat trip and all he had was a hand line with a little lead weight on the end and a couple of hooks with bread on em, and he caught a dozen or so small pretty coloured fish, no idea what they where, and I was amazed when I saw him catch the first one when he indicated (didn't speak any english) to me that they where going on the bar.b for his dad and the rest of the crew/family Being a coarse fisherman, I'm stricktly catch and release Can't wait to give it a try... Thanks again |
