There is a small area on the Northumbrian coast where I've been told hold decent sized Turbot, fish baits from June to Sept.is all I've got to go on, any ideas on how to catch them from the beach would be grand.cheers

They've got big mouths so size 1/0's or 2/0's on a pennel snood - 2" mackerel strips bound with elastic.

They feed on sandeels/baitfish - don't bother with coloured beads - but use siver sequins as attractors above the hooks.

Turbot bury themselves, brill don't. They will also actively chase a bait whereas brill won't. Any sort of fish bait will catch them, I use launce fillet, garfish & mackerel strip on the boat and they all work pretty well (I had 74 turbot& brill last year). Use 3/0-6/0 hooks, they have big mouths. I use 5/0 varivas big mouths.

HI RGF
Try a runing ledger 4ft trace cast as for as you can and as soon as it settles on the bottom wind in as slow as you can dragging bottom all the way
turbot love a moving bait sandeel or mackerel strip are top squid strip works too.
the theory is the lead disturbs the buried turbot then dinner goes right by.
you can cover a large area as turbot like to lay in wait for dinner to go buy light leads work best as they dont rattle the fish too much

If its off Warkworth Beach, then I will get the gen of my mate who has a caravan in the area.
We do not get many Turbot up the Medway, mind you I have always fancied looking for Mullet in Amble harbour.
