heres one for you wirral.
Sharon and I were soaking up the rays today at the beach when I noticed a lot of sea birds just about 300 yards out to sea. The next thing they start diving from a height like bloody ospreys at the water. Two minutes later up pop a couple of seals which we watched bobbing and diving for about an hour. This was on the incoming tide at 1.30ish. were these mackerel the birds and seals were dining on and if they were and the sea is warming then it is the first time I have ever seen the likes off Formby. The water around these coasts must be getting cleaner the beach is definitely a lot cleaner since we were there last year. John. |

Hi john,
I dought that it was Mackeral that they were diving for as the sea is still 3 degrees or so cooler than last year it may have been a shoal off last years fry as they will stay together for some time if you check out my site http://www.wirralseafishing.co.uk then you can read what has been done with the Mersey over the last few years chris |

Hi Chris,
On the beach again yesterday and the sea was full of tiny jellyfish about the size of a marble. The thing that puzzled me though was they had trailing fronds similar to the man o war which in ratio to their body were very long. About 10years ago I was in a boat fishing of Hilbre island and the water was full of orange jellyfish as big as one of those round tables you get in a pub. Are our waters warming that much that foreign jellies are invading us. John. |
