hi everybody,
new bloke here .
recently returned to fishing after a long spell away from it ,just wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to which sort of rod to use for floatfishing for carp in my local carp lake (castle ashby).
i have an 11ft 2.25tc carp rod that i use for legering /method feeder, but i like to floatfish with a second rod i have a normal 13ft match rod and a john wilson avon rod which is what i have been using (without the quivertip section),would i be best off buying a 12ft carp rod for floatfishing or a specialist carp float rod?

I have both a JW Avon quiver, and a 14 foot carp match style rod (browning syntec 14-16)

I find the JW Rod much nicer to use close in, and near snags like lilly pads etc as the all through action allows you to really apply pressure when needed.

The match style rod comes into it's own when fishing further out, it casts a float further and picks up the line cleanly on the strike, but isn't as much fun to play a fish on ;-)

Numes,
I am also local to Castle Ashby (I live in Northampton). I have not found it snaggy in the main, though ther ar areas you can get caught up in ! So any decent Carp Match rod should suffice. I assume you'll mainly be fishing Grendon Pond (Carp) rather than the others which have silver fish also ?

Numes,if you are happy using your wilson rod,and its doing its job--fine,why change it!I have used my wilson rod for float work(carp and barbel),although I must admit to a bit of poleitis over the last few years,on the occasions i fish a still water.
