Rumours are going round that the carp record has been broken ...

Heard it being discussed on tv and round my local tackle shop this week

I think it is now 99 lb

Is this right ?

That's rumours for you - who can tell? My only weekly tv is Match of the Day,and Bigears didn't mention it; and here in switched-on Shropshire the reaction in my local tackle shop would probably be: "What, Mr Walker's record has been beaten at last?"

Best leave the rumour to ferment for another week and see if the fish can top 120lb.

Had the scales been the right way up then presumably the fish would have weighed more, four or or five times more.

By the way, does Australia have a carp record?
