I am getting into video editing and as it is so resource hungry I want a hard drive to dedicate solely to the videos. The question is should it be internal or external?
External via USB2 is simple and my preferred choice, but will the USB connection slow things down too much?
If so, how easy is it to install and format a new internal hd just to use for editing and would it be faster?
Thanks
Dave

yes usb2 is annoyingly slow ,firewire maybe a faster option but only if your pc supports it or perhaps a network drive but i havnt one to test its speed
internal drives can be partitioned and formatted within windows disk management but make sure its jumper is correct or its a sata drive.
if it pops up in the bootup messages then windows will no doubt see it ,the clever bit is you can choose the new drive partition letters so you can leave your DVD at its present letter (so progs know where to find it) instead of it moving up after the new drives letters
