The V8 one.
The car has been SORN'd for 9 month's as the battery was going flat every 24 hours, not hold a charge
i thought rolleyes.gif I was going to get rid of it, but the Mrs then booked a holiday to Cornwall for the kids
and her parents (yeah, me not included) and wanted the car for Air con, comfy seats and monster boot with ski hatch etc.

So last week i purchased a new battery (£100 quid's worth) and sent it for an MOT, sailed through ohmy.gif i had
not prepared it, not even a wash (this is a K reg 1993). Great, so insured it and taxed it.

The Tax disc arrived yesturday so today planned to use it, nothing ! Not even a dash board light headhurt.gif
So its not the battery holding a charge its something draining the battery.
wallbash.gif i've probably thrown away a perfectly good battery and wasted £100 at the same time.

Having checked all the fuse's, i google this problem, sifted through the 'new' car problems, until i found this

Battery problem

So the non standard multi CD changer is the problem.

The old boy acroos the road comes over as i have my head under the bonnet and lends me a battery charger,
nice bloke that old bloke. A couple of hours later i fire up the car and take it for an hours drive to greatstone
and back. I have disconneted what i think is the power supply to the CD changer. Fingers crossed for the morning.

Now here is the question, i wanted to insure the car with Tesco on line, they have a promo at the moment where
they chuck in a free Karcher pressure washer woth £100 for free, got to the step where it ask's for Immoberliser
info.........WTH how do i know that? there are about 10 different BMW options to sellect......carp i called the help line.
To the young man on the line i explained there is no info in the handbook, why can't YOU check the car and its
standard spec, this is a BMW standard fit for the car. The young man suggest i write a letter to BMW and request
a certificate. Yeah, thats what i'll do write to BMW Munich, yeah ! right.
So i selected the first option on the list to proceed with the on line purchase schmoll.gif

The insurance document has arrived and i have just read it and it is asking me to supply this Immoberliser certificate
within 30 days otherwise etc etc.

So where does everyone get theirs from unsure.gif

My Volvo S80 will usually sit all week without any problem and then occasionally go flat after being left for two hours! Cars these days have so many damned computers and accessories that finding intermittent faults is a nightmare. One possibility I read of for mine is the car's habit of turning on its heater/blower about ten minutes after you park up, to dry out any condensation in the air conditioning system. The relay contacts that control the fan can apparently stick. That's the problem, you think once you've turned the ignition off the car is dead and no current can be used. Far from it. Those computers can turn on just about anything but the engine!
I've taken to driving around with a spare battery and jump leads in the boot. Strangely, that seems to have fixed the problem rolleyes.gif
