I can only speak for braid (in fact to be exact Quick Silver/Ton Up) as Ive never tried it in mono or other lines. The twice through the eye (regardless of what knot your using,I use a Grinner) just doesn't stop the "strangulation problem" when using the materials Ive mentioned.Simply no matter how tidy/carefully you tie it the two loops through the eye end up "rolling" over each other when extreme pressure is applied! In my opinion this gives an even worse problem! Once through the eye with any braid or mono and a Grinner has never let me down. If the same happens with other materials ,well like I said I dont know for sure but I would certainly check!

And thats my "non indicative opinion"!
