People have been dying through drinking Surgical Spirit and Methylated Spirit for years, but I suppose the difference is that this stuff is "free" (that means you and I are paying for it).

BTW I once won a pub quiz through knowing that the recipe for Red Biddy was 50% red wine and 50% methylated spirit. The prize was a pint or two of good wholesome Kentish ale.

I mention this in case any of my readers find themselves within striking distance of winning such a contest. All such knowledge may be valuable.

Not faversham's 'finest' I hope, Dave!

A group of friends of mine refer to it as 'Sh*t & Scream' - because if you're unused to its fine nuances, after a not on it, you will 'Sh*t and Scream'!

My favourite lately is Goacher's Mild - mellow, nutty and decidedly more-ish.

Yeh, that is good, one of the few milds left in the SE.

Maidstone's best.

It is so good they even sell it in Faversham.

Alan

my first bevy was brown and mild ,nice stuff and yes i got blotto on it ,next morning i woke (or it was a nightmare in the day) to brown sheets and not so mild ass hole biggrin.gif

strange how tastes change its hard to find brown never mind mild around here if not impossible (not that i'v tried for ages its nice but i discovered cider).
i also used to love IPA but that draws raised eyebrows in the local ,its all fooking fizzy industrial water nowadays ,snakebite isnt a fooking cocktail its eventual unconsciousness preceded by alien invasion in a glass ,luckily i dont go to pubs anymore

I have said, for as long as I've lived in Liverpool - just over 7 years, that the one real downside is the dearth of decent ale in the North West.

Sadly, most of the pubs sell John Smiths or Boddingtons. I have, however been enjoying Cain's Bitter. It isn't as refreshing as
many of my favourites, but it does at least seem that it's brewed by a brewer rather than a chemist biggrin.gif

But you do have to weigh it against buying a pint in London - last time I went down home, they wanted £3.35 for a pint of Marston's Pedigree
against the £1.75 for the same pint in Liverpool a week later.
