Hello,

I have been looking at some 20lb berkley fireline braid for my lure fishing but I have never used it before, previously I have used sufix and power pro. What do you youi guys think of the Berkley fireline braid?

Thanks
Joe

Well not being a lure fisher I can't comment from that perspective. However I have FL Crystal on all my 'pins and FL on nearly all my other reels!

i`ve used the fireline crystal braid and its been a very good smooth casting line on both my lure reels and my centrepins and baitcaster reel ,theres a new fireline braid out called tracer which is two tone alternating every metre which would make a good line for surface lure fishing

I've only used braid on my centrepins so I have limited experience, I switched from mono last year. I have, however, tried both PP & FL and I prefer the feel of the former, it's more supple and quieter when retrieving. My reels are loaded with FL because I was was bought a 300m spool as a pressie, it'll take a while to get through as it's very durable stuff (more so than PP IMO).

Haven't used either on fixed spool reels.

I'm a fan.
It's stiffer than a braid and thicker. It's also well documented that it breaks at almost twice the stated BS - which explains the extra thickness.
I use 10lb for chub, perch and trout spinning and have landed plenty of pike to high double figures on it as well.
For pike and medium tropical lure fishing, I've recently dropped down fron 20lb to 14lb Fireline and find that this gives me better distance with lighter lures and has yet to result in a failure.
30lb is much thicker and stiffer than 20 and I only use this for hard core applications.

For me, the big advantage that Fireline has over braids is it's resistance to "wind knots" which is a biggie for me as so much of my tropical fishing is done at night.

If you've brought 20lb Fireline to replace 20lm Powerpro, you're going to hate it.
Put that stuff onto a heavier outfit and go with the 10lb.
