After reading Steve Burkes reviews and posistive threads about good fishing alarms I had a look at them.
This was due to wanting to upgrade my fox mini micron (no sounder output socket) and fox micron M (only has dual tone/volume control) with alarms that have full output sockets, volume control, tone control and sensitivity control (I will also use for smaller species) and to get a sounder box for use inside bivvie as having alarms on full whack to wake you up during the night tends to annoy everything / one within quarter of a mile!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have looked at other alarms etc on the net and in shops. Just to get ANOTHER bog standard micron m, a set of leads, two hardcases and an xb1 sounder box would of cost me around 67 quid!!!!!!!!! A pair of fox mmx with all the features required, leads, cases and sounder box around 157.00 add another tenner if you want the xb4 box with 4 leds. So when I saw Good fishings deal on two GFs alarms with all the features I am after, covers, leads, a sounder box with matching leds for four alarms which also reproduces the tone of the alarm the run/bite is on, matching illuminated led bobbins and postage for 74 quid guess what I went for???????? (I also paid an extra 2.50 for recorded delivery) 2 of GFs Bite Alarms with 4 choices of LED colours RRP £49.80 2 of COVERS RRP 7.80 2 off Single way 7mt extension leads RRP £4.00 1 off GF4A 4 input extension box RRP £18.50 2 off Illuminated Bobbins to match colour of Alarms RRP £12.40 Total price if purchased separately £92.50 Our price for the total kit £74.00 K2GFS: COMPLETE KIT saves £18.50 discount 20% £74.00 (should cost 92.50) I went for 1 x red led and 1 x blue led. Ordered stuff yesterday and received at 7.15AM this morning recorded delivery. Had a look at it all and cant wait to try it all out. Just got to get myself 3 x alkaline 9v batteries (square ones). The alarms are a little bigger than the fox microns but who cares? They do the same job. (the pictures of them on the site do them no justice). They look ok and I do like the EARS each side of the roller being higher than the foxes so my rod blanks will fit right into the alarm rather than sit on it and not be affected by the wind or get dragged off sideways by a fish. The battery covers are so easy to take off (no screws) that batteries (being square ppv9s) can be unplugged when alarms or sounder not in use. Quality pieces of Kit at an affordable / sensible price made in The UK by a man in Kent. I spoke to Jeff several times with loads of questions and he must be the most helpful person I have ever spoken to when buying a new piece of kit. Class - well worth a look whatever your budget. -------------------- RUDD

I had got the old optonics sensors and the sounder box which I don't think I will ever replace.
cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...=ADME:B:SS:UK:1 My brother Budgie made some modification on the sounder box a mini jack socket which I can connect a vibrating pillow pad (Because of my total deafness - very limited to the low/hi tone sound) so when the bite alarm make a sound the vibrating pad will alert me -------------------- Growing old is inevitable but growing up is optional

I own a set of two optonics and will never replace them unless i absoltly have too! They are the aboslute nuts! they may look like cack, but since my dad converted them some 15 odd years ago, they have been through just about every weather spell out there, except extream heat. lol.
But they are brilliant! However! I also own a set of GFs alarms, and they are also the absolute nuts! much better than any of the Fox rubish you buy in the shops now! -------------------- |

QUOTE carping_mad: Despite repeatedly recommending Good Fishing alarms on the Forum, I can't agree that Fox alarms are rubbish. I've used the Fox Micron MX that has an almost identical spec to my Good Fishing GFs alarms. The Microns performed just as well and were also very reliable. The only reason I keep pushing the Good Fishing alarms is that they are such excellent value for money. However! I also own a set of GFs alarms, and they are also the absolute nuts! much better than any of the Fox rubish you buy in the shops now! [ 05. I've got a pair of Maver T115 alarms, brilliant value at around £15-£17 each.

I Have also got fox alarms and just bought a couple of sounder boxes and ext cables from gf. I have found them both to be exellent and as Rudd said the service from GF is great, not to mention the quick delivey.
Thanks for the recomendation/reviews which pointed me towards them from Steve Burke  -------------------- Regards Paul Mc

Yes i have got Fox E, ES, SX and SXV and they all work.I think some come with a different size plug but GF sell adapters to suit, if you are unsure drop them an email and they can usually tell you
