I was in my local "Pound Shop" today and bought a box of mixed nuts, bolts, screws etc for a quid. Sod D-I-Y. They came in a very nice multi-section clear plastic box. Each section has a curved base so small bits can be slid out easily. Naturally the nuts+bolts got shifted elsewhere and I now use the box for swivels, links, trebles and suchlike.

Chinese takeaway tubs make perfectly good baitboxes, film containers are very handy too..

What household odds+ends do you folks put to "better use" ? smile.gif

We buy 'butter' (well, one of the fake, substitutes) in plastic containers that are perfect for holding maize and similar particles. I just wash and save them until I get a couple dozen extra and then do the same when I get down to 5 or 6 clean ones.

a hoover makes a great anchor for small boats ,a four poster bed covered in chicken wire a giant feeder ,baths make great bait boats (leave plug out),wardrobes make great seat boxes for midgets in deep mud,a setee covered in grass placed upside down makes a great bivvy ,sideboards turned upside down make great rod pods (with ample storage underneath) sheds upside down with a telegraph pole through the roof makes a huge brick hod (whoops thats chesters1 building site hints ,ignore it sad.gif ) and forks attached to bamboo sticks great worm spears if some escape ,yes before I go to the tackle shop i just look around my house smile.gif
yes those bolts arnt up to much but the boxes are great ,curved sides to the compartments make getting out small items easy smile.gif

unless you buy their Chinese electric drill bits. If you're lucky you drill one hole, if you're unlucky you just get a dent in yer skull. On average it's one hole per dent-in-skull biggrin.gif

seriously though the plastic chinese takeaway containers a great for baits such as sweetcorn saves you taking that nasty tin to the peg...esp when there banned at some locations.my seat box is actually a large tool box from b+Q its got little compartments with clip fastner lids on top that hold swimmfeeders ledgers hooks disgorgers 'n'stuff. a very large storage tray that sits very high in the box and still very roomy inside strong enough the the biggest pie eater to sit on and its got wheels on one end and a handle on the other so no need for a trolley and it cost well under £30

Well, it sonly a squid! Also, have to say I bought a pack of 5 or maybe it was 6 masonry drills (for a quid) expecting them to be as you describe i.e. complete carp ..... but blow-me, they're still going ...OK

I bought more Super-glue than you'd use in a life-time: £1

Batteries are great value too.

Oh, and enough Sellotape for everyone to nick at Christmas and still have a couple of rolls left
£1

True - bog rolls at £1 per 12 are great if you're a bit nervous at catching pike
I also bought long nose pliers today for a squid.
But the Chinese 'Swiss-army knife' where only the plastic tooth-pick worked wasn't such good value biggrin.gif
