In one of Chesters posts he mentioned the Jamboree bag and the Jubbly and the everlasting strip witch as I recall was made of toffee and took forever to get through.
Can anybody remember any of the other things they had when they were kids in the late 1950s early 60s ie Joysticks they were long fags.

Black Jacks - four a penny (old ones). In my criminal youth, kids from school would go to the sweet shop in wellington boots, crouch down to select sweets, and shovel as many as possible into their wellingtons. Now I'm not saying I ever did that.....

sqirrel nuts , they were chocolate blobs with the worlds hardest toffee in the center ,the ruin of many a tooth,
5? boys chocolate bars
walnut whip when they had a wanut on top and one inside (these were VERY rare treats)
licorace ( the actual plant) chew for hours
arrowroot biscuits huge things like dog biscuits(never saw them on sale anywhere but swimming baths :confused: )

Penny (1d) caramels, McCowans Highland Toffee, Swizzells penny lollipops and Burtons potato puffs were some of my favourites. I got a tanner a day pocket money and I felt like a millionaire!

Black liquorice sticks about 2 inches long and 1/4 inch diameter. It was so hard it snapped. Used to get an empty pop bottle fill with water from the tap and put a stick in. Shaken for 5 mins made a drink I used to love but a word of caution, it was the best thing for constapation known to man. We called it 'SPO'

on the way to school our local sweet shop had 1/2p,1 penny,and tupence box full of loveley sweets what about the space ships full of sherbet that dissolved in the bag,floral gums and cherry lips..oops showing my age..

Tanner a week pocket money... those toy soldiers called"Swoppets" (6d new or 1d secondhand), "Lucky Dips", that "sweet tobacco" that came in a facsimile tobacco packet, "Gobstoppers" with that tiny seed in the middle, loose sweets in large jars at the back of the shop, "Aniseed Twist" and "Pear Drops" and those sweet and sour apple-tasting ones. That yellow paper tube that was full of sherbet with a stick of liquorice down the middle. "Black Jacks" and "Fruit Salads". And comics, also 6d new or 1d secondhand. Bought every Spiderman from number 1 to 67. Wish I'd known then what I know now-saw a mint number 1 on sale once for £3000. And those packets of sweet cigarettes...and the revered "Jamboree Bags". And "Jubblies".
