No mention of the important things like bait collection or actually being able to retain your fish. We had natural England up here recently and they were unable or unwilling to say anything. Bait digging/collection bans are certainly on the cards. But if you dont have the bait then whats the point. But then again if you arent alloud to keep any fish whats the point in that.

Sea anglers atm can pretty much go where they want, do what they want and make their own choices.
Laws and regulation tend to take on a life of their own, and given the massive funds available to those groups, that baseline actually hate angling, then its just a noose that will get tighter by the day. Just MO like Chris -------------------- Help predict climate change!

Its ok for Martin Salter to say that sea anglers will be welcome in the new MCZ's, but what he has omitted to say is that anglers will not be welcome in the new MPA's (Marine protected area's)

Recent interview with Natural England
QUOTE QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS “I must emphasise that everything within an MCZ is open for discussion” Q Will the MCZ’s negate “the right of fisheries enshrined in the Magna Carta and proven in the high court in the Anderson V Alnwick DC? A The Marine Bill backs MCZ’s, whether this would over come the decision in the Anderson v Alnwick DC is open to conjecture. Q Why have the implications to sea anglers both boat and shore, if any, not been publisized in angling mags and local newspapers. A Agreed that better information could have been sent out to avoid the confusion and mistrust anglers have for Natural England (English Nature) Q Will there be bait digging or sea angling bans within the MCZ’s Restrictions could be possible Q Will there be a limit the numbers bait digging/sea angling within the MCZ’S Restrictions could be possible Q Will there be a limit to the area being dug in a bait bed within MCZ’s Restrictions could be possible Q Will there be a limit to the number and size of species of fish caught Restrictions could be possible Q Will there be any bans on catching of certain species within the MCZ’s A No Q Will a licence be introduced within MCZ’ for bait digging A A permit system could be introduced to manage the area Q Will there be any restrictions on boat fishing within MCZ’s A there could be restrictions Q What about little bait beds within MCZ’s that only a few know about and want to keep secret, will not be happy disclosing their location to either other anglers or to natural England A These areas could be kept confidential I wouldn't trust any of these morons as far as I could through them, and that includes the fisheries minister. What a joke. -------------------- |

"Angling will only be excluded from the smaller Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) where it can be shown to be damaging the particular habitat or species being protected." http://www.anglersnet.co.uk/News/marine-co...ll-angling.html This post has been edited by Worms: Jul 3 2009, 08:59 AM -------------------- Eating wild caught fish is good for my health, reduces food miles and keeps me fit trying to catch them........it's my choice to do it, not yours to stop me!

Why is he a joke Glenn? Is he a joke all over England or just that part inhabited by Whitby? -------------------- |

With such 'assurances' being given, there must be an election looming. As always, when a politician says it's dark outside, it's best to go outside and check. But apart from all the promises that this sorry bunch have broken, so far, you need to read what isn't contained within that statement. Sure, anglers might be allowed to fish in MCZ's, but it will be under the conditions of those who make the rules. Don't forget, the RSA travesty is still at large, (albeit underground), and we all know what was written into that pile of dogsh*t - don't we? Well, here's a reminder. No anchoring, only hooks of certain sizes allowed, only certain breaking strain line allowed, only weights of a certain size allowed, bag limits or catch and release only, etc, etc......... It's fishing Jim, but not as we know it. This post has been edited by Steve Coppolo: Jul 4 2009, 10:08 AM -------------------- DRUNK DRIVERS WRECK LIVES.

Do you mean Martin Salter? Why is he a joke Glenn? Is he a joke all over England or just that part inhabited by Whitby? Martin Salter isn't the fisheries Minister, John. And if you want to know what's funny, google Labour's charter for angling. It's one of the best jokes you'll read, even if it is a bit sick. -------------------- DRUNK DRIVERS WRECK LIVES.
