Whenever I go into a thread that has a photo embedded in it, all I see is a white box with a red cross in the middle. Any idea what might be causing this?

It means that for some reason (there can be several) your PC cannot display the photo but can recognize there is a photo.
The usual cause is a problem with the hosted photo itself but in that case, everyone would see the same as you do. If it is only a problem with you then it sounds like you have some sort of setting that is blocking them. Is it only happening on Anglers Net or does it happen on most/all sites? Below are two of the same photo of an American flag. One is embedded here and the other (same picture) is on photobucket. Can you see them both, only the photobucket one, or neither?

If I'm not logged on to the forum I see the top picture OK but just the title "flag.jpg" for the lower one (I'm on Firefox, maybe the cross is an Internet Explorer version of the same thing?). When I'm logged on I see the top picture as before and a shrunk down version of the second one, which I can make bigger by clicking.

Cheers Newt.
You might have hit the nail on the head. I'm logged in from work at the moment and knowing my employer's paranoia I bet our firewalls are blocking the pictures. I'll try it from home tonight and see how things are. It'll be damn annoying if so, as it'd be good to be able to read these topics and see the pictures when I'm *ahem* on my lunch break -------------------- |
