Hi all, I'm doing a one-nighter at a 4 acre reservoir in Exmouth called Squabmoor just after Christmas and was wondering the best way to tackle it as I've never fished it before. It holds a good head of carp to 25lb and shelves off to about 18ft at the dam end. I was intending to fish popped up maize over some parti-blend on one rod and a Solar Winter Secret pop-up over a small bag of pellets/chopped boilies on the other. Are there any better methods I should employ at this time of the year and would the dam end be my best bet? Cheers and a Merry Xmas

Bit too cold for pellets now i think.
Try boilie crumb with the winter secret pop-up.
And for best results with maize i'd add a good amount of hemp to the partiblend mix
Have a good un dood

Fished it a bit in the summer months and have had a few fish - some nice upper double commons. Probably be best to fish the deeper water near the dam and keep one rod as a rover, re-casting it to a new area every couple of hors until you locate fish.

Mike,
I would personally opt for the shallows (especially as it's fairly mild atm). Best advice, as always though is to first find the fish and fish there, but that's generally easier said than done.

I'm out tomorrow for a few nights myself and if I find the fish then that's where I'll be - unfortunately they rarely show where I'm going.

Rob.
