22nd July 2012 - Club Match 4 - Smallford

A hot day for this match, not good bream weather!

I fished for the large bream anyway as I had drawn a decent area.

I fished a groundbait feeder for the whole match, just swapping between hookbaits.

Not a great match for me, 2 small roach, 2 perch and 2 skimmers for a total of 4lb 1oz.

I did have a violent bite an hour from the end after a long time biteless and even though it broke my hooklength, I know it was one of the 5lb+ bream I had been after because as I lifted the rod to find no fish attached, a large bream jumped clean out of the water right over where I was fishing!

That bream would have catpulted me up to 3rd or 4th in the match as it was won with 11lb of skimmers.
