Fly casting help please

The best way to learn fly casting is to take a casting class, you will get what you pay for. It does no good to learn things the wrong way and then later have to re-learn it correctly.

Alan, try to find some-one in a local club or similar to give you a couple of lessons, most anglers will help with the basics.

Thanks everyone for the tips, sorry to have left this one but circumstances have put a bit of a crimp in my fishing for a while.

 

Greg, I did just that a few months ago and it was a 100% improvement especially as now I am using the correct line. The guy that helped me is coming back when health and weather improves, I am planning 2 days with my Sister at Eye Brook Reservoir (between Rutland & Grantham)at the end of May directly followed by 2 days with Norrie at Swanswater, Stirling on the 2nd and 3rd June.

Alan come to the Mull of Galloway June this year and get personal tuition off the legendary Snatcher himself. It is the annual "lads week" away and the caravan may be canny full. So a sleeping bag and a bit of carpet could be your digs. Been flyfishing for 40+ years so I know how to do it but never tried to teach anyone.On the plus side there are quite a few trout lochs nearby and the shore fishing is lush - mullet/bass/pollack/wrasse/dogfish/conger/tope/mackerel. If you get yourself to Newcatle airport I can sort the rest out,game or what?

Thanks for the offer Snatcher but I am off to Eye Brook reservoir (leicestershire) then Swanswater (Sterling) then Lochalain with Davy all in the same 10 day period probably ending up back home on the 7th June. Due to health problems a bit of carpet is just not on and for the same reason money is a bit tight so it will probably only be one trip this year

Snatcher, I don't know where the topic went but about swapping a coarse disgorger for some of your salt water flys, could you leave a few with only one eye the reason is that I want to frame some and they are a bit too deep with 2 eyes
