One of the old anglers St john I think used to fish loch shin for ferox , he recomended starting after lunchtime as the fish needed time to digest its meal from the day before, an interesting thought??

I think in his book ron greer recommends fishing for ferox with dead baits at night particularly charr.Could be wrong i gave my book to my bro to read so i cant check.

I've found ferox can come on late evening on some lochs just as light is fading.
