Bloke Rods

Thinking of buying a Bloke 8weight, but can't try before I buy, SWFF UK have a deal with the manufacturers and you can get them for £168 incl p&p, means I have to sell my existing Ovris Clearwater 8 weight, (any offers before I stick it on ebay) but I feel the need to move up a notch.

Anyone any experience of them. :)

They have had a both good press and very favourable customer-feedback. However, ask the owner of Bloke just when the new Rajeff 'ECHO' fly rods from the States are going to be available. He - the Bloke fella - has just won the UK distributorship for these much-lauded, very reasonably priced, high-perfomance fly rods.

I rarely get the hots for rods, having so many, but, money- and a granny-mugging permitting, I seriously have my eye on THREE at present - 9 ft. 4 and 5 weights, plus the 9ft. extreme distance # 5 model - which, I can tell you, is quite unlike me!

MJB,

Thanks for letting me have a chuck with the 8 weight, sorry if Frank gave you a hard time, speaks his mind :) I liked it, nice stiff blank, sadly my bid on ebay was beaten by £4 whilst I was down at the conclave.

I've got to admit that I'm now toying with the idea of building my own, I did some rod building when I was in my teens and found it very enjoyable, going to have to do some more research.

Hope you had more success with the fishing on Sunday, Saturday, well it was a nice spot but somebody should have stocked it up :)

Starvin,

I was just the messenger who took charge of the rod while it was there. I used the rod for 3 of the 5 sessions I fished and thought it was good apart from it was a little heavy. I shouldn't worry about Frank. I believe he found himself stranded on the Tout with the straight talking Gogga and the sluttiest of all tackle tarts, Jamie, who straightened him out:D

I managed 4 Pollock on the Saturday evening and ventured out again on Sunday evening to add 5 Scad and 5 more Bass to my weekends tally.

Hi Starvin

If you are interested in rod building this site may help.

http://www.rockymountainrodbuilding.com

I've just built a Dan Craft 4 wt on the Fast Taper blank and if you like stiff blanks this one is awesome.

John at Rocky Mountain is very helpful and knows his stuff.

The Dan Craft blanks are great value for money, you could build a hell of a rod for not much over £100.00

Heres a few more links to give you something to think about
