Bloke Rods

Cheers Sportsman, that's the kind of thing I'm after.

The reason I'm going with the Sage is that I've cast a custom version and it was very nice, and without trying the blanks it's always going to be a risk, I was considering using a Loomis blank but which blank is used in the Cross Current? They seem to be half the price of the Sage blanks which is surprising.

Be aware that a lot of upmarket "American" blanks are made in Korea, you may not be getting what you think you are paying for

The closest blank to a top of the range Sage, for much less money seems to be the DanCraft Sig IV. Thats going to be my next build, a 9wt for Pike fishing :D:D

For good value kits this one takes some beating, I've built two Salmon rods from here that are just fabulous http://www.hookhack.com/

Good luck with it, let me know what you decide

Dave

Let's agree to respect each others views, no matter how wrong yours may be.

Cheers Dave

Made contact with Hook&Hackle on Friday, they do a kit and delivery to the UK for about £45 which is perfect. I've decided to buy something really cheap to begin with, see how good I can make it look, that way any cockups won't be too painful. Then I'll move onto a quality 8 or 9 weight with the full works.

Thanks again for the advice.

Will keep you posted.
