fair enough common, but it's not about the money for me, and the same goes for a lot of anglers, saying that just makes it into a status symbol. i could quite easily afford a bait boat, but it's the last thing i would buy.

fair enough jeepster, but trend has it there are more sales on bait boats than ever before regardless of the NOW minority old school folk that still think its a cheating kinda way to fish..hey I am also part of the err oldish school but if a boat banked me fish then sod the pride ,,,live with the times... I am allways after a pb everytime I go on the bank nowadays and if its a boat I need to get me where a cast cannot then I promise my pride does not come into it (we all have our choices jeepster but i respect yours also)

if you're after a PB everytme you go fishing, then i suppose you have to use any means you feel necessary. i'm happy with my PBs and just enjoy fishing!

 

your post also reads like you think that non baitboat users are now in a minority, i'm glad i don't fish where you do then

ok, Alan I am not knocking yout views, but,

 

on your "A" Qoute how would this compromise a fish's safety? surely there is no harm going to come to a fish with dropping your bait perfectly where you want it? or am I missing something?

 

Your "B" Quote you are obviously a very rare chap that cares about other anglers, to which I admire, however, I would love to get into the places he couldn't reach if it was productive..

Hi - I have limited use of my right hand and will not fish beyond my limits - that's my idea of fish care.

 

As for - I get really pi$$ed off when people cast across my line and insist upon fishing across as braod an area as they can irrespective of other anglers fishing the water. For that reason alone, I won't do to other people.

 

I have never ridiculed a bait boat user. I simply stated my own creed - I believe it's responsible and others in my situation may reflect on that.

My pal, who posts on here, has got such a contraption. I've gotta give him due respect that he's put it away for the time being because he's noticed the carp seem to respond better to spodding, the old dinner bell theory etc. I wonder if the boat will prove to be more succesful as it gets colder?

I dislike bait boats for one reason, on small waters they dont give the fish a safe area to hide from angling pressure as even under the overhanging trees then becomes accessable.

 

Dammed unsporting if you ask me but also scary when you think about it, one carefully boated out bait among the tree roots and mr carper crashes out in his bivvy 10 yrds away from his rods till he gets a run at 3am a few seconds (maybe a minute +) to wake up, a few more to put on some shoes and get to the rods to find himself snagged up, he ends up pulling for a break and yet another carp is left towing a set of end tackle around.

 

Now i hear you saying "but we wouldnt do that" and maybe you wouldnt but i have witnessed first hand this actual thing happening and frankly i would be happier seeing baitboats banned because even once is too often. Baitboats are not the problem its the idiots that sometimes use them that are.
