I've been looking at the JRC Stealth Brolley system, has anyone got/used one of these...are they any good?

Thanks in advance

Andy, I treated myself to a JRC Stealth Brolley system this year. The only moan I have is condensation when the weather is such that you need the front panel on. Otherwise it is a good piece of kit and I haven't regretted buying it.

Most of my bivvying is on two or three night sessions and the Stealth Brolley is perfect for that. I have a friend who has used one as a two-man bivvy for longer session and reckons it was OK, but they probably left most of the gear in the van.

(I don't recall seeing any pocket for your bottle of stimulant.)

Elton:

I have a big bivvy, but lately I've been using my Trakker brolly 'thing', as it's quick, easy and quite cosy.

Trouble is, being single skinned, it's probably at its limits right now and I should consider a quick erect bivvy.

I like speed, as well as effectiveness, so I'm probably looking for a twin-skinned 'jobby' that will take seconds to erect and, also, pack up.

I've an open mind about sewn-in groundsheets: I used to think they were the only way to go, but the Trakker has taught me how handy it is being able to pack the shelter away a mere ten seconds after putting the kit in the van (i.e. with my bivvy, I have to clear everything out, bit by bit, and then dismantle the bivvy. With the Trakker, I get all my stuff together and have it in the van within minutes).

Anyway, over to you.....

Have a look at the JRC sti rapid erection. Climax in Sheffield doing a deal at the moment.

I've heard nothing but good vibes and have one hidden away (by 'er in doors) waiting for Xmas to get here.

One good reason to do something is better than a thousand bad excuses not to.

After field testing plenty of bivvies over the last 8 years or so, I have to say that the worst was a Viper (by a mile) due to cost/performance imbalance, and the best is my current bankside home - a Trakker Pioneer with a winter skin.

The skin stays on during the seriously fast setup and so far has totally prevented condensation. Superb bivvy - eyewatering cost.

Honourable mentions for the Hutchy Cabrio, Trakker Big Z system and JRC Stealth.

And on the eighth day God created carp fishing...and he saw that it was pukka.

that's ok, they stay in the water - lets get down to brass tacks - is there any roo for my snake?

seriously, thanks for the advice Pete.

Terry - did you field test the stealth brolly system?, if so, how did it get on...they look great, and I only ever do overnighters, no longer.

thanks again - Andy

Tested it - and bought one, mate.

It's proven excellent in the year I've owned it. Well worth the money.

I have got a Rod Hutchinson Cabrio, It is an excellent bivvy. Easy to erect and the groundsheet velcros to the sides. I have got the winter skin and even without it condensation hasnt been a problem. They are bloody big as well!
