Truck Accessories!

One of the reasons for this 'Session Carp Fishing' board is so that we can start threads like this without getting shot to pieces.... smile.gif

Do you buy all the things that bring home comforts to your bivvy from angling suppliers, or do you look elsewhere?

The reason I ask is that a girl who works for me brought in a catalogue of truck accessories just before Christmas. Her dad sells them for a living. These guys have been doing 'overnighters' for years and have just about everything you'd ever need, including in-cab microwave ovens!

A lot of the stuff runs off a 12v battery, although some is 24v only. The fridges are actually fridges, not coolboxes, too.

Or is this taking things too far?

Tight lines,

Elton

PS As an aside, and a serious question, do fisheries exist where there is an electric hook-up by the swims?

An 240v bankside electric hook up and a Nash Titan? I don`t think so! biggrin.gifbiggrin.gifbiggrin.gif

Elton - severa; comments from the land of the pick up truck.

1. I have used much of this sort of gear and love it. Nice to also have a small gasoline generator if possible. The smaller ones are very quiet. And consider a fridge that takes power from battery, normal current, or heat (needs fuel).

2. If you are getting auto accessories, get them from a specialist. Angling suppliers ARE NOT specialists.

3. Consider also getting a solar-powered battery charger so you can keep the batteries up for a long session.

Elton,

It is fairly common for people to take TV's (I sometimes take mine in the winter). Less common things include an oven adaptor for a coleman stove and the electric cool boxes.

There are quite a few syndicates with clubhouses and varios facilities. Withy for example has a toilet and shower block, a full kitchin with cooker, fridge & freezer and a TV/video and not to forget a large gas heater.

Rob.

P.S. Don't you need the sun for solar panels ? biggrin.gif

we have an camping gaz electric coolbox it was very hungry on battery power so we bought a mains adaptor (we used it till we got our fridge from storage)after 2 weeks non stop running ?! the motor siezed up .i took it back to the shop, the "chap" said that it should only be used on the mains adaptor overnight! and refused a replacement ,i summoned the manager who confirmed this so i said prove it he went through the handbook and found no reference to this ,i left the shop with a new cooler ,watch these experts!

No wonder you're asking about truck accessories, Elton. Last time you came to Wingham you bought a marquee that could swallow a truck!D)

Wingham has a heated clubhouse with toilets, a kitchen with cooker and microwave and fridge. There's also another fridge and a chest freezer in the bait room. Best of all there's a shower, which is a real luxury! Several members kip in the main room which has several settees and a sofa bed. However, there's no ouside power, and, AFAIK, no one has yet brought a battery powered telly!

I have read of a few waters with outside power. These have been on caravan sites, and some even have Calor gas and mains water. One writer described how he would sit watching tv on the sofa with a remote alarm next to him and go out only to deal with takes and bait up!

Rather defeats the entire resone most of us fish, I think. Most of us, I believe, fish as much for the overall experience of the outdoors, as for the act of casting, and reeling in a fish. Some comforts are certainly nice, providing they add to the overall experience, but just sitting on a sofa, watching TV, and walking out if you get a run, is entirly too much! Might as well save your money, and just rent fishing vids.
