wots the best bait for small cod on rivers a no that the bigger sea cod like sqiuid and macral are yes and hook size for small cod?

Try asking in the sea fishing section. Not many members ever read the 'welcome' section.

I'm not sure you should be catching young cod. They are getting quite scarce

small code riddle the river tyne but in the fast few years they have been a bit over ridden by whitey?

Hi,its not really ethical to target small cod,and remember the size limits if you intend to keep them!
As for your question try peeler crab on a 1 or 1/0 hook that will also target any flatties/bass etc.
