Just got this in my mailbox and thought it might interest some:

The National Coarse Fishing Federation of Ireland are getting ready for another busy year. Last year say the hosting of the Federations biggest event in 7 years, the European championships. On the business side the Federation launched their Website which can be visited at http://homepage.eircom.net/~ncffi/.

This year there seems to be no let up in the work load. The NCFFI match calendar was launched at the beginning of the year and is the most comprehensive Coarse Angling calendar available in Europe. This publication lists over 250 competitions taking place in Ireland throughout 2000. Already thousands of copies have been circulated through Ireland and Europe and as far as Tokyo.

The Federation itself has started to revamp the National Competition structure with some changes in format.

This year sees the introduction of a new competition to determine the All Ireland Club Team Champions. This competition will be run in tandem with the Interprovincial Championships on the weekend of the 27th/28th May 2000. The host province for this event will be the Leinster Coarse Fishing Federation.

The All Ireland Championships now in its 41st year will see a change of venue with Killeshandra, Co. Cavan accepting the baton from Castleblayney.

Lough Muckno in Castleblayney held the event for 6 years and it was felt it was time to move the championships around to give other areas a change to benefit from such a competition. The All Ireland is the biggest one day event in Ireland with in excess of 200 anglers competing. The All Ireland is set for the 23rd July 2000.

The Flagships competition for our Junior Anglers, the Junior Canal Championships sponsored by Duchas will take place on the 19th August 2000.

This competition draws a large number of junior anglers from all over the country and will continue to do so.

One of the fiercest fought competitions during the year will happen on the 29th/30th July 2000. This competition is the World Teams of Five Qualifier.

The winning team will represent Ireland in the World club Championships in Belgium in June 2001.

If all this is not enough Ireland play host to the new 6 Nation Championships. This event was previously the Home Internationals with the 4 home Teams of Wales, Scotland, England and Ireland now joined by France and Belgium. The Championships will take place on the weekend of the 12th/13th August 2000. The venue for the event has not been decided as yet but there are a number of venues being considered.

Internationally the NCFFI are preparing to send a European Championship team to England in June and a World Championships Team to Italy in September for the Millennium World Games. Dublin and District Angling Club are set to represent Ireland in this years World Club Team Championships which will be held in Portugal in June.
