THE OK CLASSIC FISHING TOURNAMENT

Anglers' Net

  • 1 month later...

Preparations are in full swing for this event now and all the paperwork is available for download on our website - details given below - for those of you who would like to attend and once again the entrance fee will be handed over in its entirety to the RNLI at Swanage. Please note that we require registration prior to the event and that there is no facility to enter the competition on the day.

Personal public liability insurance for the duration of the competition (for those who aren't already covered through the BCU or AT) will again be made available through our insurers for a similar amount to last year, price to be confirmed and available at registration.

There are three points to note that aren't on the forms but which, in the case of the first two, will be covered at the safety and event briefings:

1. All hooks must be stowed away out of sight at all times while on land to avoid the possibility of injury to bystanders. This is important and failure to do this will result in disqualification.

2. While it is a catch and release competition this is only for the purpose of the competition itself, allowing fish to be released after photographs are taken if preferred and entrants may, if they choose, retain their catch.

3. We've reserved an area at the following campsite (which many of us stayed at last year) for entrants and while not an official requirement or endorsement the likelihood of a memorable evening or two makes it worthy of note! http://www.herstonleisure.co.uk/

Hi,

I was going to email directly but thought it would be better here. Can you let us know the boundaries for the competition? Is it just the Swanage bay?

I have been trying to get some info on the currents at Old Harry and Peveril Point (said to be a bit nasty despite small tidal height changes) so more guidance on that would be good if possible. I have seen the diagrams on the Swanage Sailing club site and they look like a good start.

Thanks,

Steve
