Now all we need do is unite with, firstly, European anglers and then anglers in the rest of the world to combat overfishing, pollution and abstractions.

I just wanted you all to buy AT this week.

 

The National Federation of Anglers (NFA), National Federation of Sea Anglers (NFSA), Salmon & Trout Associatiom (STA), Angling Trades Association (ATA), Specialist Anglers Conservation Group (SACG) and the National Association of Fisheries and Angling Consultatives (NAFAC) have all come together to form the National Angling Alliance (NAA).

 

The nine objectives of the NAA ;

 

1. To raise the status of freshwater and sea fisheries in the perception of the public, Government and agencies.

 

2. To secure the improvement of all recreational fisheries.

 

3. To secure more funds for freshwater and sea fisheries work.

 

4. To improve water quality and safeguard water resources.

 

5. To establish the socio-economic importance of angling.

 

6. To improve participation in angling.

 

7. To generate more support for constituent organisations.

 

8. To obtain better funding for angling from Sport England and all other possible sources.

 

9. To protect and promote the sport of angling.

 

STA will, in the first instance, provide the headquarters for the new organisation and will provide secretarial services. The official launch of the new organisation will be on November 20th with endorsement from Kate Hoey, Sports Minister. Kate is a great supporter of angling and has been a prime mover, along with SACG and ATA, in establishing on-going contacts between the AGBs (Angling Governing Bodies) and encouraging us all to reach this new position in supporting the sport of angling in Britain.

I don't have that detail yet. All I have is from AT.

 

As soon as I get more I'll let you all know.

 

However to join in and get representation you will need to be a member of one of the bodies. For coarse anglers that means either the NFA or SACG. The more members we have and can claim representation for the louder our voice will be with Government and the more effective will be the new NAA.

 

 

It will be no good in the future for anglers to claim "No one talks for me" if they are not in membership of one or other organsiation. Any group, single specie or syndicate, wanting representation at the highest level will also need to be in membership with one of the constituent parties.

 

It is likely that lottery funding for angling projects will depend on membership or affiliation to the NAA. I know that in the past the lottery funding application forms have always asked for membership of the sports governing body, so lots of applications failed because clubs and societies were not in membership of the NFA. Now there is a choice, either NFA or SACG. Group membership of SACG is 50p per member with a minimum of £25.00.

mike that looks the best 150 pounds i could spend .will take it to the committe in due course.i suggest all clubs think about who they want to represent them .does nfa really offer value to clubs who do not want to fish matches methinks not cheers big al
