Was the mother in laws, looks immaculate, purpose made box, so it is in very good condition, lots of shiny metal, with bit's and pieces included. Electric foot pedel operation. Appears to turn over as smooth as silk. It looks like a brilliant piece of engineering, although i am aware they don't sell for a lot of money. I would be looking for this to go to a good home and we have more. Has a seriel number so it is possible to check on the age.

In the UK they were made in Clydebank. The factory even had it's own railway station.

Thanks for that, according to the number it was made in 1933, don't look that old. Single letter y with the number that puts in in that period. Just found the origional instruction book, dated 1933 as well, how interesting. Still don't beleive it's worth too much as looking on ebay there are hundreds of these machines of all ages that go for no money at all.

they never have been worth very much since the multi stitch jobbies came around ,we had my mums and couldnt give it away in the free adds so broke it up and used the base as a garden table base as it was cast iron.

it was a motorised version just a motor using a belt to drive a pedal version but seemingly factory fitted ,nice bit of wood as well.

we had a frister and someones version anyway but needles were hard to find ,the mrs has a super dooper one now from lidl that does many types stitches for £30 thats never used :D

The nice bit of wood is oak.

 

It's got the electric foot pedddle thingy, and a handle somewhere for handrolic use. And the wood base is tooooooo nice to burn, Chesters. Gerrrrrrrrr. She also left a more modern all electric one that is within a very nice piece of furniture that again would be tragic to burn, Chesters. :P

theres not a lot you can do with a huge wooden cutting board with a sewing machine shaped hole in the base. :D

actually hers was a "table" on the top you pulled a flap over and then pulled the machine up through a hole and locked it in place
