I was gonna have a go at this but I have two in the 1 1/4 which I prefer so i'll give it a miss.

I have already bid and also lost out on a super specialist by 2.00 earlier - someone has bid over eighty quid for this one and still not met reserve price and on top there is postage of nearly 12.00!!!

How much do you think they are worth? I think they were 130.00 new or thereabouts.

There has been a few ebay on recently and several 1 1/4's which would be my choice. I've noticed if in good nick they do hold their money and can go for more than they cost when brand new ! Unless you can find one in private adds or somewhere other than ebay you've just gotta be prepared to pay for it.

I have a brand new series 7 a 1 1/4 test avon quiver if that's any use. In all honesty there's no real difference except the tips on the series 7 are brighter.

There's at least a couple of 13'0" IM8 Super Feeders too which are really nice rods.

Yeaph they certainly are, I have one :), they don't have the avon type top though. I think there's one or two on ebay now and some im8 specimine float rods which are a top rod for trotting. I think all that era of drennan rods...im 9's, im8's etc where far better than the rods they sell today. Saying that though they where more expensive. The specimine float rods where 200 ripp's and drennan never used to allow discount on their retail prices so you couldn't get them cheap so really the prices they sell for on ebay are a bargain.

Super specialists seem to be one of them 'cult classics' that never lose much value - I certainly will never part with mine - nor my s/s landing net handle. I wonder how many were produced and how many sit gathering dust?

I would imagine many thousands where made...probably loads lying about in attics or sheds etc.

I bought a 1.25lb tc super specialist Avon/quiver rod off eBay last year, I think it was about £90 inc postage. I thought that was pretty good as that's what a new series 7 cost at the time. Very nice rods indeed, but I still use my series 7 more (we've had more adventures together!).

And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music
