Ahh yes, the decade that fashion forgot :D

Glam Rock, Flares, Kipper ties, Platform soles, The Good Life, The Sweeney, Raleigh Chopper, Punk Rock, Silver Jubilee, Blue Nun and Black Tower, Fondue sets, Fawlty Towers, Ford Cortinas, LED watches. Just some of the things I remember off the top of my head.

fondue sets were out far earlier ,i remember my mum had one as a kid ,trouble was we knew no one so it remained unused :D
we had cheese and "dads" cheese one was most probably that rubber stuff ,his would be mature .
its a family joke where on the extremely rare occasion he let you cut a bit no matter how thin you cut it the knife was snatched away and the words "its not sweets you know" and you were handed a micron thick slice to eat :D
thinking back i think it may have been from habitat that opened about the time in bromley

Can't beat a nice kipper tie. I was in the midlands this weekend, and had several of them.

I went to a place over there that felt just like that. Some of the clothing was way back when, !

Weird, isn't it? I was getting it just walking down a dusty main road by the hotel, maybe something about the road markings / layout?

Or possibly a side effect of Guinness poisoning

Playing slaps and knuckles at school along with smashing your mates knuckles whilst playing conkers and saying sorry i missed normally leading to fisticuffs ,Trendy if you had a pair of doc martins/Fred perry t shirt/studded leather jacket/denim jacket laughing when your mate got the cane your mate laughing when you got the cane with nobody needing therapy or counseling afterwards playing football in the playground at school with a tennis ball or for a realy short game table tennis ball .
The de regior Winfield 6` white fibreglass fishing rod and also the oblig BSA meteor along with yamy FS1e Suzy AP50 ,Being allowed to stay up to watch ALI vs Frasier trying to kill each other..Tomy Smith ,Norman Hunter,John Collins ,Billy Bremner et all kicking lumps out of anyone silly enough to come near the ball...playing cricket in the evenings with your mates until you couldn't see the ball any longer.
Trying desperately to tap off at one of the local village discos and failing as your mate won the heart of the village lovely...Winning the heart of the village babe only to be told by your mate you are not a good friend for spending all your time with her .
Having a scarp with lads from the other villages simply because they had dared turn up to your villages disco ...then playing football against them the next weekend probably ...nothing like and edge to a game  ,Seeing who had the fastest 50/ 100/250 motorbike for bragging rights ...getting locked out by parents for coming home late and drunk ah the 70s

We are not putting it back it is a lump now put that curry down and go and get the scales

Beware the kennet axe murderer.....after dark he stalks the banks.......boo

Wow! If you thought last week's music was good - and it was - this week's round of accoustic, hippy music was a class act. Some really very good music, all recorded live.

All that after being reminded by the 1975/76 documentary just how bad this country was in the mid 70's. My God, those militant unions really ballsed this place up.

Great sounds though :)

The 1970's.

I remember:

Animal Crackers. Pipkins. Mumfy. Magpie. Space 1999, Pot Black, Chorlton and the Wheelies and Jamie and the magic torch.....

No electricity, the Cane.. :( , No coal for weeks, No water [1976]. My Tortoise dying after it ate from the Lilac tree.

I remember when my father was laid off and he had to hunt for our tea because he could get no money....

I remember school dinners...when food was food and playground football.

I remember the massive party we had for the silver jubilee...went on for 3 days...
