Looks like you two had a banner day. Good fun.

May I assume a "Texas Tarheel" is a Marine from Texas who found himself stationed at Camp Lejune and had the bad taste to prefer UNC over Duke (forgivable for a Texan I suppose)?

Newt,

Perhaps you can describe the innercoastal better than I can to the Brits.

Wiki article describing the Intracoastal Waterway and they did it lots better than I could have with photos and details.

The Intracoastal Waterway is a 3,000-mile (4,800-km) waterway along the Atlantic and Gulf coasts of the United States. Some lengths consist of natural inlets, salt-water rivers, bays, and sounds; others are artificial canals. It provides a navigable route along its length without many of the hazards of travel on the open sea.

These guys were having a great day taking redfish and flounder on light spinning gear.
