Wingham Fish-In dates 2013

I've already had an e-mail asking about the dates of the next Wingham Fish-In so that the right days could be booked off work. As many of you will be sorting out next year's annual leave now, I'm posting the dates here on the Forum. They're Sat May 18th to Monday May 20th.

Wingham Main Lake is a little-fished syndicate gravel pit in Kent that's normally members only. For those of you who don't display signatures here's a link to the Wingham web site: http://www.anglersnet.co.uk/fisheries/wingham.htm

Each year roughly half of the guests get PBs, even if it’s only beating their previous Wingham best!

Previous Fish-Ins have produced bream to 16-06, lots of 8lb+ tench to 10-04 plus eels to 4-13 and plenty of 3lb+ perch to 3-14.

For the last 7 years' catch reports see

Peggy will be doing her optional huge BBQ each lunchtime at a cost of approx £6 per day. As always though the fishing itself is free of charge.

Anyone who's made at least 1 post on the Forum when I start taking bookings is invited, but if I'm oversubscribed priority as usual will be given to those who haven't been before.

However please note that I won't be taking bookings until the first week in May.

Wish Wingham was a bit closer to me though.

Blimey Barry, 350 miles each way for you :cc_surrender:. If you could add a day each side of the fish-in for travelling you wouldn't regret going.

It's never a 'six', let's put it back

Barry C, I'm seriously thinking of going, and believe me I wish I was as close to Wingham as you are :)

As you can see over on the left, Nick's from Thurso, about as far north on the Scottish mainland you can get!

In fact, Nick's been to a Wingham Fish-In before. Didn't you live on one of the Scottish islands then, Nick?

The longest journey has been Newt and Jan's. They came from the USA in 2006. Mind you, they did come to the UK for a holiday.

However we've even got season ticket holders as far afield as Liverpool, Wigan and Devon.

There are three venues in England that make me want to go fishing, they are: (in no particular order)

The River Test in Hampshire, the River Coquest in Northumberland and Wingham in Kent and I have been fortunate to fish all three.

Thanks, Tony, that's very kind of you. Such comments are one of the things that make all the hard work worthwhile. I'll pass them on to the team.

Yes Steve, my previous trip to Wingham was from the Isle of Muck, and despite not catching was worth every second of the trip.

It is a really beautiful place, with stunning wildlife and scenery, and rumour has it some fantastic fishing. If I can get the time off from domestic duties (which looks quite positive) and if I am lucky enough to get a place I will be there.

Should anyone else from a northern location fancy making the trip I could collect up to three others on route...
