First bit of the tank reorganisation complete - corner tank to Malawi cichlids. Kept four of the yellow labs, need to rehome another dozen or so. Once they are gone, the old cichlid tank is going planted.

Great looking tank, I must have missed it when you first posted it up.

They're still doing well, though I've lost the lighting on all three tanks now - so I can't see the mbuna, most of the plants in the small planted tank have snuffed it and the big tank I was going to convert to a high lighting/CO2 injection planted setup has been put on hold. Good lighting is quite expensive!

Is it the lamps or the units that have gone? Lampspecs.co.uk is a great source of lamps at realistic prices, as long as you know the specifications. Aquarium manufacturers just buy from elsewhere anyway and have them rebranded.

Units, unfortunately. And they're the Juwel variety, where you have to cut up the light bar to get at the ballast. I will probably replace them with over-tank luminaires, but they are not cheap.

Juwel are swines for that, they use non-standard lamp lengths as well.

Take a look at Orinoco Aquatics online, they have luminaires which look as good as many others that cost far more, or just keep an eye on Aquarist Classifieds online for a lucky buy, there's always someone tinkering or switching over to LED.

Very good pricing - wish they did a 120cm!
