What's the penalty for not knowing how to hold a rod?

All,

The headlines and the body of the article do not agree.  Probably a "between the lines" story to this one.

"leaving a rod unattended" - I guess he was sleeping too far away from it, but it's an unusual charge. Reading between the lines, they threw the book at him.

Blimey - I used to live in the next road to him, too :)

Of course you might find that your gear is 'confiscated'

He said: "The alarms were triggered as the thieves tampered with the rods, but we were too late to stop them getting away with the haul."

That says it all really. So much for the "I'm on my rods in seconds", that's often quoted.

 John.

Angling is more than just catching fish, if it wasn't it would just be called 'catching'......... John

I have a rule at Wingham that all runs must be hit within 10 seconds. This is my single most rigid rule and, except in a genuine emergency, no quarter is given. Indeed, 3 members have lost their season tickets for breaking this rule - a very expensive lesson for them!

However to put this into perspective that's over 21 years.

Having said that I understand leaving rods unattended is quite common on some waters.
