The bait is...er, was 10" long and Big Clarrie just wanted a taste!  He is an estuary cod, locally called a goldspot.

This morning I chucked in a 20 cm 'pillie', sardine...And Big Clarrie came up for brekkie.

Good grief !    I would guess Epinephelus  tauvina.   That is a good shot showing the angular operculum in post #3  

I like the reflection of the Spaniard showing by the round rock. That led me to realize the mackerel is hanging in mid-air (you can see the ripples made by drops of water coming off)   In fact the more I look at the pic the more I like it  !

 

Just had another look - is that a remora beside it in post #4 ?
