Deab-bait Sand Eel presentation for Bass?

Cheers FTH's,

I may grab a pack for back up but am really confused as to whether they will score or not due to the very indifferent feedback I'm getting about them ;0/

I suppose the only way to find out is through trial and error and at £1:95 for a 10 pack it's not going to brake the bank so I'm going to grab some...

If you're going to fish a dead bait then you're probably better off with a fillet of mackerel or big peeler. You need to be using a bait that fits on a 5/0 hook realistically. Dead sandeel are about 10% as effective as live ones.

Just to add to the confusion - I've never had much success with dead/frozen sandeel. Live OK, Mackeral OK, squid OK, pouting OK, Smelt OK, worm I don't use much these days and crab not at all cos its too expensive and time consuming to collect. FWIW. Good luck! :)

Why not try spinning with the the dead sandeel? I have had a bit of luck with that (same technique as for Pollock).

Dead bait wise, its squid and white rag for me!
