Hi All.

Well the Hatch problem on the Scrambler XT has been put right......I hope :D

Simon at Bournemouth Canoes actualy offered to exchange the Kayak for me.

Also to have the hatches fitted at the factory, and then deliver it to me personaly.

Now that sort of attitude, and service takes some beating.

After giving it some thought, I felt I wanted to keep the the one I have now.

Especialy having done all the work and having it the way I wanted it.

So got the hammer out and made some changes to the hatch set up.

Added two lots of webbing straps to hold and retain the hatch.

May ship a little water, will have to wait and see, shouldnt be too much, if any. Hatch.jpg

The picture shows the straps.

Cheers.

Cheers Starvin.

Yeah,....... you cant beat a nice tight one. :D

Hows the P13 build going?

Are you going to add a finder to her aswell, or make the other one interchangable?

Had a look on the Maplin site, thanks, still looking around.

Its blowing East here today, not to strong, but enough to make the sea a bit loppy.

See what the morning brings

Maybe we coulod have a Yakclave in Plymouth - just the place for it. Good fishing spots within easy paddle range of easy launching. Always somewhere to go whatever quarter the wind is in - even if it does mean driving round to the Yealm or up the Plym and fishing the estuary.

YY your Exmouth jaunts sound interesting - not out by No 8 bouy in a big swell I hope it can build up pretty heairily out there. The old lifeboat house used to be a favourite too if I remember correctly.

By the way, have you tried launching from Branscombe or Sidmouth? With the new protection defences at Sidmouth it looks interesting to fiddle about inside the island now. What news of the old haunt? I've completely lost touch.

Have a good fish Yask.

Nice one YY, sorted at least! Very pleased for you. Got my new yak and posted some pics on the thread I started. The straps you fitted look pretty substantial so should work fine! See if you can convince the missus to let you test her in the bath! (Yak, not the missus LOL :) )

All the best.........SDD

Just need some fish now LOL

Hi Simon.

Yep, Plymouth would be a nice place to try out, when the nicer weather gets here.

Had some good fun off the breakwater when I was spearfishing.

Some huge boulders down there, with lots of deep holes holding good fish.

The weather would obviously have to be spot on.

Paddle out as a group, and return the same.

We have had a paddle between Ladram bay and Sidmouth, looking at all the hidden un-reachable coves along the way, lots of very rough ground around there, with interesting gullies and large reefs.

Not under pressure from continual fishing activity.

No boat would get anywhere near it.

We have plans to exoplore a lot of ground this season, all the way up to Lyme Regis.

So many places of interest to visit, and fish.

We havnt launched from Brancombe as yet, but again, this is on the list for a visit.

Quite excited about this season, lots planned.

I am delighted that the hatch situation is sorted on the XT.

I would have been loathed to change her for a different Kayak.

That would have been the case had I not fixed the problem.

She may not be the prettiest, fastest, up to date version, but she is strong and very capable.

As far as Exmouth is concerned, nothing much has changed, still quiet, and a nice place to be.

The docks area has changed beyond belief, all modern complex now.

To get a berth in the harbour would cost a small fortune now.

I think they call it progress.

Your P13 is looking good, are you going for a finder, or happy without one?

Nice job YY. Have you checked the article on improving OK scupper seals on the sitontopkayaing site? If i remember right it suggests using plumbers pipe insulation foam to create a better seal. I've posted the link in one of these threads but can't remember which! :D

BTW got out yesterday; no fish but a fantastic day. Only problem is that now I look like a panda (sunglasses and 6 hrs on the water...)which is causing the wife no end of mirth ...
