SM    :)

When you go again next year I would be well up for it if you fancy another yak or two in the flottilla.

We also have a couple of red hot marks for tope in Pembrokeshire if you guys fancy a trip down this way. Plenty of camp and caravan sites or a self catering cottage can be arranged at a special discount for up to 6 people.

GB,

yes and yes are the required answers!

Yes, join us in W. wales - from May onwards until end July/August seems to be the best time. Possible fish up to 50lbs around early on - Charlie Barlett (specialist tope charter) doesn't get excited on our tope grounds until he gets one over 50lbs, the rest are just run of the mill. - Still good sport though.

Pembrokeshire - yes, with provisos. Like the kind of tide we have to deal with. If you are talking about anywhere near St. David's Head I think yu'll get few takers. Me, i'm off for a bigger anchor and some more anchor warp :D

St davids head area has to much tide to deal with, the better opion is around south Pembs. Some of the DZ zones, the kidney, offing patches, turbot bank and my favourite stackpole head.

I know Stackpole area - I go to shoot woodcock on Stckpole estate occassionally, when I am lucky enough to get an invite!

I don't know the waters off there though. Turbot Bank sounds interesting, do they catch turbot there still,or is it an historical name?

They catch good numbers of Turbot in W. Wales. Nifty and I plan to have a go for them - early spring is when the better sized ones are around. Half a fillet of mackerel on a big Aberdeen seems the best tactic from what we can find out. They catch them regularly from the shore, so just outside the surf zone is the place to try - Aberdovey south to Aberystwyth, all along that sandy shore. A fellow was fishing a match and won it with 3 turbot the other week - all small though, biggest 2.5lbs. In the spring there was one of 14lbs caught off the shore - that is more like it! Would make a great opener for the season....
