 Strange that although it was considering the taking of eels from estuaries and coasts the A T only asked freshwater publications and coarse license purchasers to take part in surveys on whether the taking of eels by anglers should be banned. Nobody asked me to run a survey in the Sea Angling News, didn't they want the opinions of sea anglers or had they already decided to agree with the EA to ban the taking of eels from the sea? It's no wonder that the majority of sea anglers don't join the AT as they obviously feel sidelined and unwanted by them. :bye2:

Thanks To Steve for his honesty, however, the question I have is how many times does it happen with deep hooked eels, I don't expect an admission that it happens at all from the trust or the aquilla club.

Free to choose apart from the ones where the trust poked their nose in. Common eel. tope. Bass and sea bream. All restricted.

New for 2016 TAT are the main instigators for the demise of the u k bass charter boat industry, where they went screaming off to parliament and for the first time assisting so called angling gurus set up bass take bans with the e u using rubbish exaggerated info collected by ices from anglers, they must be very proud.

Upgrade, the door has been closed with regards to anglers being linked to the e u superstate and the failed c f p. So TAT will no longer need to pay monies to the EAA anymore as that org is no longer relevant to the u k . Goodbye to the europeon anglers alliance and pathetic restrictions from the e u.

Angling is better than politics, ban politics from angling.

Consumer of bass. where is the evidence that the u k bass stock need angling trust protection. Why won't you work with your peers instead of castigating them. They have the answer.

Recipie's for mullet stew more than welcomed.

Angling sanitation trust and kent and sussex sea anglers org delete's and blocks rsa's alternative opinion on their face book site. Although they claim to rep all.

new for 2014. where is the evidence that the south coast bream stock need the angling trust? Your campaign has no evidence. Why won't you work with your peers, the inshore under tens? As opposed to alienating them? Angling trust failed big time re bait digging, even fish legal attempted to intervene and failed, all for what, nothing.

Looks like the sea angling reps have been coerced by the ifca's to compose sea angling strategy's that the ifca's at some stage will look at drafting into legislation to manage the rsa, because  they like wasting tax payers money. That's without asking the rsa btw. You know who you are..

Hi fives, how the devil are you?

In the shops, commercially prepared jellied eel, load of slop mate. And as for smoked eel, one of the best food in the world, so to be denied the use of these fish that are sent back dead or dying with deep set hooks is a disaster as far as I'm concerned.

OSPAR (which the UK are signed up to) have committed to protecting eels

The meeting also agreed on measures to protect and conserve 11 species and 5 habitats identified by OSPAR as being particularly vulnerable within the North-East Atlantic.  These include cod, European eel, 5 species of shark and 2 species of ray along with 5 important marine habitats including seagrass meadows and deep sea hydrothermal vents.

:hypocrite:  Just wondering how the UK government means to meet OSPAR's commitments when they put the interests of the commercial fishermen before OSPAR's ideals. :fishing1:

2.    More than 30 international non-governmental organisations are involved in OSPAR as official Observers. They represent a broad range of interests and expertise related to the marine environment and the uses of marine resources. Many contribute information, insights and standpoints.

what the e a could do with is to listen to those who go out and do it, good eel reports here yet again, in amongst the few antagonists who continually tell us anecdotally that the stock is diminished because of this and that, but never look at the reality.

loads more eels in this report, will the dinosaur fishing org with the abbreviation of TAT carry on with it's belief that every one counts or consider dropping it's advice that all deep hooked eels must be returned, dead. And commence a campaign to drop the punitive pointless restrictions on anglers taking some home for the pot.
