SEA FISHING LICENCE

It will come in eventually probably sooner than later. Interesting point on policing, West Wales have been policing their coast line with vigor chasing bass cm and fishing in restricted areas, illegal netting etc. Big fines, loss of equipment and the news has spread like wild fire so maybe not so hard to police after all.

I fish, I catches a few, I lose a few, BUT I enjoys. Anglers Trust PM

Guys, sorry am new, and new to sea fishing.

Can I take it then, that if I wanted to fish off a beach in Essex, currently I do not require a licence? Is that correct?

All help and advice would be welcome on this as want to do a spot of sea fishing when the bf comes to visit in a few weeks and would be nice to have everything sorted first :)

Welcome Katefish, no you don't and if anyone tries to sell you one at present, it's a scam, so good free of charge fishing to you. :)

Free to choose apart from the ones where the trust poked their nose in. Common eel. tope. Bass and sea bream. All restricted.

New for 2016 TAT are the main instigators for the demise of the u k bass charter boat industry, where they went screaming off to parliament and for the first time assisting so called angling gurus set up bass take bans with the e u using rubbish exaggerated info collected by ices from anglers, they must be very proud.

Upgrade, the door has been closed with regards to anglers being linked to the e u superstate and the failed c f p. So TAT will no longer need to pay monies to the EAA anymore as that org is no longer relevant to the u k . Goodbye to the europeon anglers alliance and pathetic restrictions from the e u.

Angling is better than politics, ban politics from angling.

Consumer of bass. where is the evidence that the u k bass stock need angling trust protection. Why won't you work with your peers instead of castigating them. They have the answer.

Recipie's for mullet stew more than welcomed.

Angling sanitation trust and kent and sussex sea anglers org delete's and blocks rsa's alternative opinion on their face book site. Although they claim to rep all.

new for 2014. where is the evidence that the south coast bream stock need the angling trust? Your campaign has no evidence. Why won't you work with your peers, the inshore under tens? As opposed to alienating them? Angling trust failed big time re bait digging, even fish legal attempted to intervene and failed, all for what, nothing.

Looks like the sea angling reps have been coerced by the ifca's to compose sea angling strategy's that the ifca's at some stage will look at drafting into legislation to manage the rsa, because they like wasting tax payers money. That's without asking the rsa btw. You know who you are..

You don't need a licence if you are fishing for sea fish.

(If you are fishing for migratory trout, salmon or coarse fish out to 6 miles then you do. A concession has been made for anglers fishing for eels in the sea so you don't need a licence when fishing for them)

I intend to fish from the beach, which isn't 6 miles out. So...does that mean that I still need a licence?

Sorry, just want to be sure, the last thing I want is to have someone come and ruin the weekend by fining us! lol

As leon states you only need a licence if your targeting game fish(i.e salmon or sea trout)if your not delibrately targeting them and catch one by accident it has to returned(alive or dead or once again you'll need a licence if you wish to keep it for the pot) otherwise no you won't need a licence.

Mmm, Its not Sea fishing but this is a scenario I know of Ken. A local angler fishes a local water less than a mile wide and half a mile long. The bag limit is 8 fish. He regularly doubles that catch. The water has (I think) 3 bailiffs. So if they cant enforce the rules on a water that size how can they in the seas ? With the Price of bass as it is it they will be getting bought and sold right under your nose. The buyers and sellers act is a nonsense too. Its not a good thing but its true.

Glenk.

12 months ago I would have suggested the same as you are suggesting in your post. That was prior to seeing what powers and changes will be coming to SFC, s with the introduction of the marine bill.

Without breaking any confidentiality rules, let me put this scenario to you. would you risk, if rules where in place for say a licence to fish (sea and freshwater) or bag limits on your catch breaking these rules if the person (or organisation) who was going to be enforcing these rules had the powers to suspend you from fishing (legally) for the faceable future, if not indefinitely?

would your friend not think twice about taking his bag limit and more if there was the chance that he could be band (from legally fishing) for life.

I believe that your dedication to your sport, as the same with millions of other anglers would deter them much more than the hundreds of extra fishery officers that will come with the marine bill.

Regards

You could use that as a deterant against the commercial guys who have committed offence after offence, i.e. the brixham guy who reached ten last year, using the fines that they pay at present as mearly an inconveinance, tax loss rather that a punishment. Pro rata that would have far reaching effect on seeing justice done in protection of our fish stocks, compared with an individual who has nicked say ten fish over his bag limit..
