Fish are getting smaller, maturing earlier

Recommended Posts

I don't know Stavey I have never fished for cod in your area, I spoke to a fisherman from Rye recently, he said that they had had some ,well I would not say good but they were not terrible cod catches from that area, so don't give up hope just yet.

Perhaps thats your trouble to many negitive thoughts.

Ever heard of flogging a dead horse? it could happen to you wurzel one day, and that day my friend may not be that far away, and it wont be sea anglers that have brought it about either....

A fish that is mature enough to spawn isn't a codling , it's a cod.

I remember when anything under 10 - 12 lbs was a codling!

As NB has said I have personally found roes in fish a little over 2lb, I can't call them cod no matter what ! It hasn't been an occasional experience, its happened to myself and my mates on numerous occasions, theyre in a rush to breed, I wonder why ?
