Spider ID wanted.

I know some of you are into arachnids, any idea what this is? It's only about 3mm in size, and the nearest I've come to an ID, is an immature wood louse spider.

John.

It came out a bit bigger than I thought, sorry.

Angling is more than just catching fish, if it wasn't it would just be called 'catching'......... John

Cheers Steve, that's ruled that out then.

Any more suggestions, anyone?

Here's another shot.

leg colouration seems slightly striped? immature orb spider possible?

Garden spider has striped legs too.

Is there just one spider in the pic, or is it carrying a passenger? (would make it an adult).

I only ask cos I saw this one a few days ago with a multitude of passengers.

Just the one spider ayjay. It's on a house plant leaf, the leaf is about 2" across. I only spotted it by chance when watering the plants, and it had spun a small web on across the leaves. The red really stood out against the green.

I'm struggling to resize the pics, they seem to come out too big to show any proper detail.

That's what I was referring to with my uk orb spider reference...couldn't recall the correct name. You can just make out a brighter central stripe on the abdomen in one photo

Yes, I figured that was what you were referring to. There were lots of adults about really early this year, probably because they got through the very mild winter. They're a pain in the backside at the moment because every time I put my washing out, it comes in covered in web.

In my professional opinion as a highly qualified (if not practicing) biologist, that wants KILLING WITH FIRE! :D
