I can't see the mouth. It's not very deep bodied, but it's a bit brassy and red-finned in the tail. Emaciated rudd? Roach/rudd? A bit of something exotic - any orfe present?

Same as Steve I would like to see the mouth but the dorsal and general body say Rudd to me initialy as well. Being such a hardcore specimen hunter I would be gutted if the 10ozs chublets Im catching are MONSTER Dace!

Im having ID problems myself this season! Catching a lot of small Chub/Dace on the Thames and despite checking to see if the Dorsal has a concave or convex trailing edge still cant tell?

And thats my "non indicative opinion"!

I would have said Rudd,

 

If there was no unhooking mat in the pitcure, I would have said it was one of those "single lake exotic foreign rudd thingies"

The mouth is usually a good guide for me - even small Chub still seem to have a big Chub shaped gob.

 

Not sure at all about Vagabond's fish, it looks to have some Roach or Rudd in it along with something else.

I'm with Steve, possibly roach/rudd, but the head shape, and thin 'wrist', looks a bit 'orfe' to me. Did you hide the mouth intentionally to throw us off Dave?

 

 

Don't tell me it's a 'Blue'.
