Launched at last!

Crow Point in devon (Taw & Torridge Estuary)

17mph NW but pretty sheltered

Overall very impressed.

Its a version of the P13 with the new scuppers. Opened up the hull after about a 1.5 mile jaunt and it was driza bone.

planning first fishing trip as we speak.

Yeah it was almost the top of the tide and pretty sheltered.

Sorry - Crow Point rather is the northern side of the taw torrige estuary mouth - i was tucked in behind the light house point.

Well done Kishkash. If you didn't do some today its worth practicing reentry before you start fishing from it - after jumping off try turning the kayak upside down & then flip it back over whilst in water just a bit deeper than yourself which is close to shore/bank with no current.

Zzippy,

the 15 does have the edge over the 13 in the distance stakes, despite the extra kg. When looking for ease of paddling it is waterline length that counts. For the kind of fishing that you are doing the difference between the 13 and 15 will be marginal. The extra windage when putting the longer one on the roof in a breeze is likely to be more of an issue - especially if you are like Starvin and have to stand on tip toes (or steps!!)

Nifty is more than happy with his P13 - and I like it too. The Scupper is a much finer kayak and has almost total waterline length. It is close to 2' extra waterline length over the P13 - hence the difference in paddle effort. That is about the same as the 13 - 15 differnce. The main arguement for you is going to be above the water, but don't be fooled the Scupper will let you sit side saddle quite happily.

May I make a suggestion? Why don't you try my Scupper before making your mind up - and give a P15 a fling if someone will let you loose in theirs. Then you can decide between them.

If you can't get to see Simons I'm collecting mine from Bournemouth Canoes on Saturday (yipee). Happy to go from there and drop it off down the harbour if you want a trial. Won't be rigged but you will get a good idea.

Thanks for the offer lads

I would loved to have had a try in your Scuppa darnsarf, but I am back to work on Sat :(

I have the p15 replacement on order. It should be here by the end of next week.

I did like the look of the scuppa pro.But it was just the low down seat that put me off.I am a fidget when I am fishing and cant sit in the same posistion for more than 10 minutes.lol

But when we all meet up for a fish I would still like to have a paddle if thats ok with you.It looks a real niffty Yak.
