Fox do it again

I've been trying to restock some lures (soft plastics get chewed up easily) and have been finding it suspiciously difficult to get my favourite ones...I've just been told that Fox have now stopped making them.

 

Why do Fox always do this! It's the same with their rods and everything else, they make something that's brilliant, and then after a year or two just stop.

 

Maybe there's a very good reason, but it just seems to happen too often to be coincidence or bad luck?

Aha I have a lot of those due to ordering some last year not going then getting some more for this when I I did .....how many fork tails for a fox Kevlar barbell rod????

Because not enough people think they're brilliant products so they don't make loads of money from sales. Maybe they don't realise they've produced something really good or perhaps they do but just want volume sales of 'reasonable' stuff?

 

Either way I'll be stashing my two unmolested fork tail lures until the niche zander market takes off.

 

Edit: Come to think of it the lures that I did use on the day weren't troubled by zander too much so they'll be worth a bit as well...call the teeth marks patina.

Jv if you had enough I would consider a swap...!

 

I'm not convinced just demand (or lack of it) is the reason, there's a big European market too. The kevlar rods that jv mentioned are a good example, still considered one of the best rods ever made and discontinued almost immediately! I have several fox rods, and they all got immediately discontinued despite being really good!

Anderoo sadly I wouldn`t have enough for a fair exchange ,does seem bonkers with such short production runs esp of the rods

Probably because fox dont make anything ,they get their logo embossed on some cheap chinese tat coming of some conveyor belt ,when the chinese owner dont make much out of it they make something else that could ,thats why most modern reels dont have spares ,you send your broken one to the importer and they chuck it away and send you a new one or this years version of the broken one

Theres only a hand full of companies that make things most just import stuff or assemble imported stuff and insist they made it

At one time we made things from scratch now we just import it all ,in most cases already assembled some as parts to be assembled ,how could a radio company claim they made something when all the parts were sourced elswhere and assenbled? ,i have resistors with names on all made in england and proudly saying so but that was long ago now every bit is made in china

Maybe it boosts the market for new rods by keeping the secondhand prices up?

I'm pretty sure it's a deliberate strategy, I guess to keep their product line fresh. I think the lesson is to buy a lifetime's supply of something if it's by fox and you like it...!
